Here’s Help Finding A Nearby “Office” Away From The Office

first_imgWhat it Takes to Build a Highly Secure FinTech … Tags:#apps#mobile christina ortiz Why IoT Apps are Eating Device Interfaces Related Posts center_img The Rise and Rise of Mobile Payment Technology Working remotely is great – until it’s not. Like when you’re more enthusiastic about doing the laundry than doing your boss’ bidding, or when you crave a watercooler conversation. Or any kind of conversation. A free iOS app called Work+  helps you find spots that more or less match the work atmosphere you seek.Work+, by Tender C, uses a mix of simple location mapping and user ratings to find places in your area that could make a desirable temporary work space. This year it won second place for Best Overall Application in New York City’s software developer contest, Big Apps 3.0. The contest was the city’s challenge to developers to use city data and create apps that improve life in the Big Apple. What Are You Looking For?Do you need free Internet access? Want something to nosh? Or do you prefer to mix a little booze with your reports? Work+ can find that. The app will look for an “office” away from your home office and even allows you to save it for future reference.  A partnership with Foursquare also lets you check in without having to switch applications. The app can also gauge noise levels and find places that are dog friendly or have an “artful ambience.” However, when I asked for a quiet space with WiFi, that’s dog friendly and has an artful ambience, the local gas station down the street was recommended. Not ideal. Monitoring time spent away from the home office is fairly easy with a timer that records how long you spend at a venue, automatically shutting off when you leave. You can get monthly reports on where you’ve been working and for how long, and even compare your stats with how long others have spent working at your locations. If you’re looking for somewhere to work, or just a place that has decent WiFi other than Starbucks, this app is pretty helpful. Just don’t expect it to find you an engaging conversation. That’s all on you.   Role of Mobile App Analytics In-App Engagementlast_img read more

Premiere Pro CS6: Customizing Keyboard Shortcuts

first_imgAdobe has updated the Premiere Pro CS6 keyboard shortcut window to include more customization. Learn how to set Premiere to use shortcuts from other popular video editing applications!Recently, many editors have been making a move from other editing applications to Adobe Premiere Pro. Whether this is for the speed improvements, the native play-back of multiple formats, the integration with After Effects, Photoshop et al – whatever it may be – it all means change, which can slow you down! On top of all these changes the last thing you want to have to do is learn a whole new set of keyboard shortcuts potentially slowing down your workflow even more.Thankfully, Adobe have been very aware of this general move towards Premiere Pro and has tried to make things as simple as possible. In this post, you’ll learn how to make your Premiere Pro keyboard shortcuts mimic those found in Avid Media Composer 5, Final Cut Pro 7 or Premiere Pro version 5.5 (as many of the shortcuts have changed in the release of CS6).Premiere Pro Keyboard ShortcutsIn the menu bar go to ‘Edit’.  Towards the bottom you will find ‘Keyboard Shortcuts…’‘Keyboard Shortcuts’ WindowIf you simply want to load Avid, FCP or Premiere Pro CS5.5 shortcuts – click the drop-down and choose the option you want.‘Keyboard Shortcuts’ Window Drop-downNotice there is a very helpful search box in this menu where you can type the name of a command to find out what the corresponding keyboard shortcut is (if there is a shortcut assigned to that term).Searching – EditThe Keyboard Shortcuts Window is also an editor whereby you can add, remove and change keyboard shortcuts to fit your exact workflow.Start by either navigating to the command you wish to edit the shortcut for, or alternatively search for it as needed.  When you have found the item you wish to edit, select it and choose the ‘Edit’ button that will appear towards the bottom right of the panel.Edit Option with Item SelectedThen, simply type in the new keyboard shortcut that you want to assign it and it will automatically be added. If that keyboard shortcut happens to already be assigned to another command, you will get the following error.  Note however, the shortcut has been added to the item you chose and removed from its previous use!Error DialogueAs you will see from the picture above you still have options. You could click OK and go with the change. Alternatively, you could decide that you want to Undo the change and leave the shortcut as it was (which is what I did in this example). You can also clear existing keyboard shortcuts if you don’t use them and set them free for future use!Lastly, if you do make a change, notice that the ‘Go To’ menu will become active.  Click ‘Go To” and you’ll be directed to the command that you just removed a shortcut from.  Assign it a new keyboard shortcut with just one click.  Nice!Have a Premiere Pro shortcut that’s essential to your video editing?Let us know in the comments!last_img read more

Police in M.P. district on toes after bomb threat to BJP MLA

first_imgThe Vidisha district police have stepped up security at the railway station, government hospital and bus stand in Ganj Basoda, whose MLA Leena Jain received an anonymous letter on Monday threatening to blow up her and the Union Home Minister. “As a preventive measure, a bomb disposal squad reached Vidisha from Bhopal on Monday. Four to six officials with hand-held metal detectors are randomly screening people entering the public facilities. We have also deployed a tracker dog,” said Vinayak Verma, Vidisha Superintendent of Police. The hand-written letter was received by the BJP MLA at her office at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, she confirmed. Besides the leaders, it threatened to blow up public places. “I had filed a complaint with the police after receiving the letter. I don’t suspect anyone for the threat as I don’t have any adversaries,” Ms. Jain told The Hindu. ‘Writer clueless’ “Prima facie, the letter appears to have been written from within Ganj Basoda. Its ostensibly non-serious language indicates the writer is clueless about what he wrote. For instance, it has been undersigned by ‘Bomb bananey wala’, which doesn’t indicate anything. Yet, it could be a threat to public security,” added Mr. Verma. The police were coordinating with the State ATS , the GRP and the RPF to track down the accused. An FIR has been registered against unknown persons.last_img read more
