Oscoda Area Schools will soon welcome therapy dog ‘Chester’

Oscoda Area Schools recently announced its coming therapy dog program to motivate students in– and outside the classroom.They will soon welcome 5-month old Labradoodle Chester. Once he completes 300 hours of training, the little pup will be a working therapy dog.The school district partnered with Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union to provide room and board and a trainer for Chester.Research indicates that therapy dogs increase attendance, confidence and self–esteem while lowering student anxiety behaviors.
